A lack of government funding is not an excuse to turn off the lights - it may be the reason but the Tories at County and in Government should talk to each other.
Seems to me that the Conservative controlled County Council is acting against Cambridge City by its insistence on turning off and dimming street lights. Ours is a 24 hour city and the side streets are full of lumps and bumps as well as potholes. Our pavements are littered with cars and bins and other obstructions. We are not a third world country with a lack of funding to pay for street lights. The citizens of Cambridge have paid for these lights to be on to keep our streets safe at night and the County Council should not be saving money here.
A lack of government funding is not an excuse - it may be the reason but the Tories at County and in Government should talk to each other.
