PCC update 18-3-16

We now have just over six weeks to win the PCC election.

Our campaign is organised around street stalls and meetings

Can you organise an event?

I will collect any individual who is willing to help me with a street stall and take them to campaign for an hour or so – weekdays, evenings or weekends.

I look forward to speaking to any group that invite me or attend any event you organise.

To check availability contact my diary at pmch45717@gmail.com 07815 767568

What have we done

By this weekend I will have taken my stall to Peterborough, Sawston, Ely, March, Histon, Huntingdon, Cambridge, Wisbech and Linton.

I have attended events at Dogsthorpe and Cambridge and taken part in briefing days in London at the LGA and CoPaCC, attended the current commissioner’s final Police and Crime Panel in Peterborough, Cambridge’s Community Safety Panel and local party meetings.

I am attending the party’s PCC launch in London on Monday (20-3-16).

February 2016

Congratulations to Romsey's very own Cllr Dave Baigent, who has been selected as Labour's candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner election on May 5th 2016. This follows a ballot of Constituency Labour Parties, with a clear majority of them voting to back him.

Cllr Baigent, the son of a policeman, has spent his life committed to public service. A Fire Fighter for over 30 years, he has a PhD in Uniformed Public Service Cultures and, as a lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, wrote and led their Public Services degree.

Dave says: “I am delighted to receive the support of Labour Party members in Cambridgeshire and I look forward to campaigning with them to deliver a Police and Crime Commissioner who will stand up to this Tory government over the reckless cuts to police in our county.

“Violent crime in Cambridgeshire has risen by 25 per cent in a year, whilst the number of police officers has been cut by more than 100 since 2010. The choice at the election will be between a Labour commissioner who will stand up to the government's cuts to policing, and a Tory commissioner who will back the cuts all the way.

“If elected, I will work day and night to make our streets safer and protect our communities from the very worst government cuts.”

Romsey Labour is incredibly proud of Dave's nomination and we believe that he is absolutely the right person for the role.
